The first thing people are going to think about when they suffer from low appetite is vitamins and supplements, however these are not the best elements to help your body because they are simply going to give your body chemical compounds that are not usually the best for its functioning, the best elements you can give your body for increasing its appetite is healthy foods.

I know that eating foods to increase your appetite might sound like a funny idea, but it’s one of the healthiest actions you can do and it’s extremely easy to try.

Before I give you a list of foods that can increases your appetite, you need to understand the reasons why your appetite might be low:

The first reason is having intestinal or digestive problems, your appetite is a fragile system, it can be disturbed by aliments and conditions that affect your internal organs, such as your liver, stomach, and intestines, also intestinal problems such as diarrhea, constipation, indigestion can also affect your appetite dramatically.

The second reason is having too much junk food!

These foods tend to be extremely high in calories, but very low in nutrients; they take a long time to be absorbed and are going to fill up your stomach and intestines which is going to cause very low appetite.

  • So, the first food that increases your appetite is dark green leafy vegetables.

They are one of the healthiest and helpful foods you can consume on a daily basis, they are extremely rich in fibers and proteins which are going to help you detox and cleanse your digestive system.

In other words, dark green leafy vegetables are going to act as a healing agent to your intestinal system.

However, they are very filling and if you eat them the way most people do, they are going to decrease your appetite to.

The best thing you can do is to drink them!

Every morning, prepare a dark green leafy vegetables smoothie, also called a green smoothie, in which you need to have at least 100 g of dark green leafy vegetables, preferably kale or collard greens.

Blend them thoroughly with fruits like bananas and drink everything!

This is by far one of the healthiest and also one of the best foods to help increase your appetite.

  • The second food that will increase your appetite is anything with fennel seeds.

Fennel seeds are amazing at helping your body with essential fatty acids and also essential antioxidants.

What I really enjoy about them is that they are also extremely helpful for maintaining and even increasing the appetite.

They are what we call “bitter foods” in other words; they are going to help the production of bile by your liver which is going to increase your appetite dramatically.

When I was pregnant, one of the most helpful foods I ate almost every day was fennel seeds bread; you can find an amazing recipe at this website:

  • The third food is fenugreek.

Fenugreek also belongs to the bitter foods family, it’s extremely important and beneficial for your digestive system and it’s going to help you regulate your liver and increase its health, which is why fenugreek is used successfully in many countries as a great appetite stimulant.

Every day, take at least one teaspoon of ground fenugreek seeds, they are somehow very smelly but they are going to help your appetite dramatically and within a short period of time, you are going to experience positive effects.

  • The fourth food is sprouts.

Alfalfa sprouts are probably the most known foods to help increase the appetite, however , lately, alfalfa sprouts have been linked to different cases of salmonella, that is why I highly recommend that you sprout your own seeds, the best ones are broccoli sprouts, they are very tasty and are also extremely easy to sprout.
